It has been three years since Lord O’Neill’s Review on Antimicrobial Resistance was published.

Meanwhile, global antibiotic consumption continues to increase, as does the rise of certain antibiotic-resistant infections. While headway has been made in a few important areas, last month’s Review of Progress on Antimicrobial Resistance from Chatham House makes it clear we are not moving far enough or fast enough to avert what is likely to become a human and environmental catastrophe.

Just like climate change, antibiotic resistance represents a global crisis. We need actions not words.

This World Antibiotic Awareness Week, BSAC will use its social media channels to say there are no grey areas when it comes to AMR – only the need for a black and white commitment to #ActionsNotWords.

We will retweet the best responses.
