Professor Outterson’s academic work focuses on the legal ecology of antimicrobial resistance, using social science tools to improve our response to drug-resistant infections. He is the N Neal Pike Professor at Boston University and the Executive Director of CARB-X, the world’s largest non-profit supporting antibacterial product development, with over $500M committed in funding from 2016-2022.
