Professor Enitan Carrol is a Professor of Paediatric Infection and Honorary Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Diseases, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Her research interests include bacterial infections in children, biomarker diagnostic accuracy studies, and early warning scores for early recognition of deterioration. She has over 20 years’ experience of clinical research in hospitalised children with infections, both in the UK and in Malawi. She is Co-CI on the PEACH trial aims to determine if use of the infection biomarker procalcitonin reduced antibiotic use and/or improved patient outcomes in COVID-19 patients during the first wave.
