Chairman [2008-2017] of Scotland’s national clinical antimicrobial stewardship [AMS] programme-SAPG. President of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy [BSAC] between 2015-2018;

External advisor on Antimicrobial Stewardship & Education Policy to a number of professional societies, governments and non-UK governmental bodies including the World Health Organisation [WHO]; WHO and EBRD advisor on AMS-education & training and implementation. Global leader in AMS program development, education and implementation. Editor in Chief (2019-21) of a unique open access education and research platform –JAC AMR.

In 2015 he was awarded the Order of the British Empire [OBE] by Her Majesty the Queen for outstanding services to the treatment of Infectious Diseases and has received the Dutch 2019 SWAB award of International leading contribution to AMS.  In 2020 was awarded the prestigious fellowship of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious diseases (ESCMID) for long and outstanding and excellent contributions to the society and specialty. In 2021 he was elected as Fellow to the prestigious Royal Society of Edinburgh [FRSE].

Dilip has authored more than 265 peer reviewed publications and has a range of local, national and international contributions to research & innovation in the domains of e-learning education in AMS, OPAT, value based healthcare, evaluation of value of new antibiotics, quality improvement and implementation science, guidelines and policy, particularly in the field of antimicrobial stewardship and AMR. His work is increasingly focused on his passion for building global open access digital knowledge exchange learning platforms committed to AMR/AMS and other pandemics and in supporting AMS implementation and education in LMIC’S and others wishing to develop such programs.
