Professor Davey Jones is a Professor of Environmental Science and Public Health. His research focusses on nutrient cycling in terrestrial ecosystems, with emphasis on soil-plant-microbial interactions, and on understanding the links between land and water in relation to nutrients, human pathogens and antimicrobial resistance. He leads the national wastewater-based public and environmental health surveillance programme for Welsh Government which uses wastewater to generate insights on AMR prevalence and persistence in hospital, abattoir, river and coastal waters. He also leads the water quality modelling component of the EU BlueAdapt project focussed on human pathogen and AMR behaviour in coastal waters, and regularly advises UK and Welsh Governments on their public health, agriculture, waste and climate change policies.
