Dr Surjo De, Consultant Medical Microbiologist, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust 

 

 Surjo trained in London and gained an experience of clinical paediatrics and neonatal practice, becoming a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health before undertaking specialty training and a MSc in Medical Microbiology. He became a consultant at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2016, maintaining a close involvement with paediatrics through a particular focus on the microbiology liaison to the adolescent haematology and oncology services there, before moving to Great Ormond Street Hospital in January 2022.

Surjo is an examiner for the FRCPath part 2 examination in Medical Microbiology and has an interest in furthering the development of innovative platforms to bring laboratory teaching to specialty trainees in both microbiology and paediatrics and conducts the London Doctors’ Orchestra and Choir in his spare time.
