Dr Stephanie Thomas, Consultant Medical Microbiologist, Manchester University Foundation Trust (MFT)

Stephanie trained in Scotland before moving to the Northwest of England (Manchester), to complete Specialist Registrar training in Clinical Microbiology and Virology.  During this time, she completed a master’s degree in Diagnostic and Medical Virology at the University of Manchester and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.

Stephanie has been a Consultant Medical Microbiologist at Manchester University Foundation Trust (MFT), since 2010 and is the Head of service for the Manchester Medical Microbiology Partnership (MMMP).  Her main clinical interests include management of patients with infection requiring Intensive Care support (including those undergoing ECMO) and management of complex vascular infections including the diabetic foot.  For the past year she has been working on Sabbatical with Public Health Scotland in the Laboratory & Testing Cell on the COVID-19 response.
