Jane’s PhD in Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) with Prof Mark Wilcox sparked a career-long interest in this organism and antibiotic- associated diarrhea. She established the highly successful human gut models of CDI at Leeds, studying the role of antibiotics and the gut microbiota in the disease. She has led a number of UK and European studies of AMR in C. difficile. During the COVID19 pandemic she has led a clinical study on faecal excretion of SARS CoV-2. She was awarded an NIHR/HEE ICA Clinical Lectureship in 2019. She is currently UK Clinical Lead for AMR Diagnostics at NHS E/I.
