Dr Ioannis Baltas, ST3 Infectious Diseases & Microbiology, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust & NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Infectious Diseases & Microbiology

Dr Ioannis Baltas is currently an ST3 in the Microbiology Department of University College Hospital. He completed his undergraduate studies in Greece, where he witnessed first-hand the burden of antimicrobial resistance. He came to the UK in 2017 to do an MSc in Immunology of Infectious Diseases in the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He then stated postgraduate training in 2018 in St George’s Hospital. He holds a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, a Postgraduate Certificate in Tuberculosis and a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. His research interests include antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial stewardship, and medical education.
