The NICE Antimicrobials Evaluation Committee (AMEC) has issued draft guidance for new drugs to treat Gram-negative bacterial infections

Both draft guidance documents can be found below, including the committee’s estimate of the value of these to the NHS:

  1. Ceftazidime with avibactam for treating severe drug-resistant Gram-negative bacterial infections
  2. Cefiderocol for treating severe drug-resistant Gram-negative bacterial infections

BSAC welcomes news that these two ‘last line of defence’ antibiotics will soon be available on the NHS as part of a new de-linkage scheme. See full details and comments from Dr David Jenkins, President of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy.
