Earlier this year, we launched our exciting new initiative, Insights for Action, to support our expanding community of infection experts to solve some of the most pertinent challenges for the workforce on AMR.
This World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, we are proud to announce that Insights for Action is now open to infection experts around the world.
Wherever in the world you live and work, we invite you to bring forward the challenges that you see to help solve them for this and future generations. This is your opportunity to share the real-world challenges that you see in your country or community – and collaborate with other experts to solve them.
We want to hear from bold thinkers and motivated doers outside of the UK about what areas of practice or policy you would like to see changes in. If your idea is selected, you will be supported to chair a time-bound task and finish group made up of experts from the BSAC community and beyond.
Insights for Action groups will work to present their solutions ahead of the High-Level Ministerial Conference in Abuja, Nigeria, which will take place in June. This is your moment to inform global, regional and national best practice.
Do you have a challenge to bring to the BSAC community?
We want to hear your real-world challenges that affect the workforce. Your issue might be specific to your community or country, or it might be applicable to many countries.
The High-Level Ministerial Conference on AMR will focus on local action and delivering real progress on the ground. We would like to see challenges that can add to this.
For example, perhaps you:
- See a gap in education and training for antibiotic stewardship?
- Have examples of practice data collection and an opportunity for scaling these up?
- Want to see a spotlight on an issue that your colleagues see every day?
Your group will be focused on catalysing action and sharing your outcomes with the community and beyond through papers, journal contributions, symposiums, and more, in advance of the High-Level Ministerial Conference and thereafter.
Do you want to step up and be part of a transformative initiative?
You don’t need a ready-made solution – just an open mind, a collaborative spirit, a desire to make difference and a willingness to lead a group from start to finish. You will put together a group of experts and lead the group throughout its journey.
This is an exciting opportunity to build your leadership experience, connect with other members of the community, and drive forward solutions with real-world impact.

Your challenge statement should:
- Identify a problem, opportunity, need or gap for the workforce
- Indicate your desired outcomes and what you see as success
- Align with BSAC’s mission to drive sustainable and responsible antimicrobial use, and show potential for real-world impact through ingenuity and innovation
- Show potential for real-world impact through ingenuity and innovation
We will assess submissions based on:
- Clarity and relevance of the challenge
- Potential for impact
- Alignment to BSAC’s mission and values of impartiality, inclusivity, agility, and impact
