    Chairman [2008-2017] of Scotland’s national clinical antimicrobial stewardship [AMS] programme-SAPG. Chair of the European Study Group on Antibiotic Policies [ESGAP-ESCMID] from 2011–14 and President of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy [BSAC] between 2015-2018;

    External advisor on Antimicrobial Stewardship & Education Policy to a number of professional societies, governments and non-UK governmental bodies including the World Health Organisation [WHO]; WHO and EBRD advisor on AMS-education & training and implementation.

  • Dr Alistair Clark , Managing Director of the Environment and Sustainability Department, EBRD

    Dr Alistair Clark is Managing Director of the Environment and Sustainability Department, EBRD. His role includes ensuring that all investments are consistent with the Environmental and Social Policy and Environmental Procedures of EBRD and he is responsible for providing strategic direction to EBRD on the implementation of the Bank’s environmental and social mandate. He has been responsible for the 2003, 2008, 2014 and 2019 Environmental and Social Policies of EBRD. He is also a Chairperson of the UK Export Guarantee Advisory Council and a Trustee of Television for the Environment, a UK registered charity specialising in environmental and social issues.

  • Nobuko Ichikawa, Senior Environmental Adviser, EBRD

    Nobuko is a Senior Environmental Adviser in the Environment Department of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London, U.K.
    Since the UN resolution to combat the proliferation of AMR was issued in September 2016, she has been working on AMR initiatives to effectively recognise AMR risks and take adequate mitigation measure at the project level as well as through policy dialogue. EBRD launched the new Environmental & Social Policy in April 2019, which incorporated specific references on AMR as the first Multi Development Bank (MDB).
    Nobuko has been working in EBRD since 1996 and prior to EBRD, at the World Bank in Washington D.C. from 1991 to 1996. Her work in EBRD focuses on environmental due diligence for health care services, Public Private Partnership (PPP) hospital facilities, property and tourism, information technologies/telecommunication, urban redevelopment and cultural heritage and social inclusion in EBRD countries of operations. At the World Bank, she worked on industrial pollution prevention policy work in Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia.

    Nobuko obtained a Master’s in urban studies and city planning in MIT in Cambridge, M.A., Master’s in Hosei University and Bachelor’s in Chuo University in Tokyo. Nobuko has been working and living in Thailand, the U.S. and UK over the last 35 years.

  • Dame Sally Davies, UK Government Special Envoy on Antimicrobial Resistance

    Dame Sally Davies was appointed as the UK Government’s Special Envoy on AMR in 2019. She is also the 40th Master of Trinity College, Cambridge University.

    Dame Sally was the Chief Medical Officer for England and Senior Medical Advisor to the UK Government from 2011-2019. She has become a leading figure in global health including serving as a member of the World Health Organisation (WH O) Executive Board 2014-2016 and as co-convener of the United Nations Inter-Agency Co-ordination Group (IACG) on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) reporting in 2019.

    In the 2020 New Year Honours, Dame Sally became the second woman (and the first outside the Royal family) to be appointed Dame Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath (GCB) for services to public health and research, having received her DBE in 2009.

  • Dr Carmem L. PESSOA-SILVA, Unit Head - Surveillance, Evidence & Laboratory Strengthening Surveillance, Prevention and Control Dept. AMR Division at WHO Headquarters, Geneva

    Dr Carmem L. PESSOA-SILVA, MD, PhD, is Brazilian, joined the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2005.
    From January 2005 to November 2011 Dr Pessoa-Silva was the Team Lead for the WHO programme “Infection Prevention and Control in Health Care”.
    In the context of renewed efforts to combat antimicrobial drug resistance, WHO established the Global Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System (GLASS) and appointed Dr Pessoa-Silva to lead the new programme.
    Prior to WHO, Dr Pessoa-Silva gathered 20 years of professional experience as an infectious diseases physician in Brazil where she is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
