To celebrate the society’s land mark achievements over the last 40 years the 2011 Spring Meeting examined and addressed the current position surrounding antimicrobial resistance surveillance, antimicrobial stewardship, multi-drug resistance, acinetobacter and more. Anecdotes of practice over the last 40 years were shared and we looked towards the next 40 years and what the future holds for antimicrobial therapy.
We were joined by Professor Brian G Spratt CBE FRS FMedSci, chair in molecular microbiology at Imperial College, London who delivered the prestigious Garrod Lecture.
