The Officers, Chief Executive, and staff of BSAC are deeply saddened to hear that Sir Paul Cosford, PHE Emeritus Medical Director has died. Sir Paul’s contribution to public health was admirable, considerable and will be greatly missed.

Amongst a wealth of public health initiatives Sir Paul championed the antimicrobial resistance agenda, leading pilot campaigns to raise public awareness and understanding of AMR amongst the public.  Sir Paul was also highly supportive of the general practice focussed TARGET initiative that seeks to improve effective antibiotic prescribing, something the Society was most appreciative of.

Our thoughts are with his family at this most difficult of times.
