GAMSAS is a quality improvement focused, points-based scheme based on standards for AMS and the supporting IPC and microbiology laboratory services. It supports accreditation and identifies areas for improvement within hospitals accredited at all 3 levels:

Level 1 – where the 17 core standards are met

Level 1 commended – as for level 2 where progression is halted due to resource (financial/human) or systems design

Level 2 – where between 18 and 32 core standards are met

Level 2 commended – as for level 2 where progression is halted due to resource (financial/human) or systems design

Level 3 – where all 33 standards are met.

Hospitals achieving Levels 1 or 2 Commended or Level 3 can also be designated as Centres of Excellence where there is evidence of mentorship being provided to other hospitals to secure spread of good practice in AMS across regions and countries.

GAMSAS will open for applications from late October – 24th December 2023. For further information / apply for accreditation please visit: ams-accredit.com
