Did you know every year in the UK 48,000 people die from sepsis? But it doesn’t have to be like this. BSAC and NHS England have worked together to develop five new e-learning modules designed to support quicker and more accurate diagnosis optimising the blood culture pathway.

Improving the way blood cultures are processed is vital to help improve patient outcomes and, support better use of antimicrobials. With the latest data showing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a leading cause of death worldwide, it’s never been more vital to protect our antibiotics.

The new modules have been designed to support quicker and more accurate diagnosis optimising the blood culture pathway. Designed for patient-facing staff, laboratory staff, neonatal/paediatric staff, consultant microbiologists and members of multidisciplinary teams (MDT).
