Welcome to the Antibiotic Resistance and Mechanisms Workshop for Researchers brought to you by the BSAC.

Our 2026 workshop will offer members of the UK community researching mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance the opportunity to meet, to consolidate and extend the expertise held within individual laboratories in the United Kingdom. This in-person workshop will provide a much needed forum to allow the sharing of knowledge between all grades of researchers, including PhD students and technicians.

As in previous years, the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC) will underwrite the majority of costs for this meeting. The focus of our support will be on those who present a poster at the workshops and we will be offering discounted places to those who submit poster abstracts. To apply for a discounted place, we kindly ask that you submit a poster abstract when you register. We encourage everyone who can support their own attendance to pay the Standard registration fee.

Abstract Submission

Please submit your abstract(s) using the online submission form for consideration for ORAL and/or POSTER presentation at the conference.

ORAL submission deadline: 1700hrs UK time on Friday 2 October 2026
POSTER submission deadline: 1700hrs UK time on on Friday 16 October 2026

Please note our Conditions of Submission:

  • The presenting author must register for the conference.
  • Abstracts must be submitted by the deadlines above.
  • The first author should ideally be the presenting author. All correspondence will be sent to the lead author.
  • If selected for poster presentation authors are required to submit their poster in PowerPoint format prior to the conference.
  • A printed poster (A1 or A0 portrait) will be required for the in-person event.
  • All abstracts need to be submitted using the online submission form.

Format of Abstracts:
Abstracts should be no longer than 500 words and contain:

  • the title, authors, affiliations
  • an initial statement of specific objectives of the study, unless this is given in the title;
  • a brief statement of methods;
  • a summary of the results obtained;
  • specific conclusions.

The material presented should be relatively new but may have been presented at another conference in the past 12 months.
